Dunstall Barns Nottingham Wedding Photographer

Libby and Christopher’s wedding at Dunstall Barns was one of those days that had everything: smiles, laughter, a touch of rain, and golden-hour magic that made me, a humble Nottingham wedding photographer, feel like a cinematic genius. These two were beaming all day long, and their family and friends were right there with them, clearly determined to have the best day ever.

We had a bit of typical British October weather in the morning—gray skies and a light drizzle just to keep us on our toes. But by the time the ceremony rolled around, the rain had graciously stepped aside, giving way to gorgeous sunshine, and by the afternoon, we had the full October glow. It’s like the sun knew Libby and Christopher had a wedding to rock and decided to show up as the ultimate wedding guest.

Dunstall Barns was the perfect setting, especially with all the beautiful, personal touches Libby and Christopher added. I mean, we’re talking Pinterest-level décor here. They’d made their own seating plan sign, a masterpiece of design that had all the guests stopping to admire. Handmade touches like that always make a wedding feel extra special, and it added such a stylish, cozy vibe to the whole day. You could see the effort that went into every little detail—Libby and Christopher basically deserve their own wedding décor blog at this point.

And as their Nottingham wedding photographer, I was living for it! The rustic elegance of Dunstall Barns, combined with their carefully crafted details, made for picture-perfect moments at every turn.

One of my favorite parts of the day was capturing those spontaneous, candid moments that show the true joy of the day. From the excitement of getting ready in the morning (where there was a lot of laughter and possibly a touch of nervous makeup touch-ups) to the hilarious reactions on the dance floor in the evening, the whole day was full of moments that needed no staging.

As a wedding photographer in Nottingham, my goal is to capture these real, unscripted memories—the looks of love, the sneaky tears, and of course, the goofy dance moves once everyone’s had a chance to hit the bar. And let me tell you, Libby and Christopher’s friends and family did not hold back. We had everything from the classic wedding “dad shuffle” to some seriously unexpected dance moves that left everyone, myself included, in stitches.

Let’s talk about that golden hour. The sky seemed to pull out all the stops, bathing the whole scene in a soft, warm light that made every photo feel like it was taken in a dream. We got to sneak away for some couple portraits, and honestly, it felt like nature was playing second photographer, setting up the perfect backdrops as we went along. Golden hour at Dunstall Barns is the stuff of Nottingham wedding photographer dreams.

These quiet moments between Libby and Christopher were just pure magic—they gave us time to take a breath, soak in the beauty, and capture the romance of the day in some truly epic shots. There’s something about that golden light that brings out the best in every couple, and it’s always such a joy to watch my couples realize just how stunning their love looks through the lens.

As the sun went down and the party kicked off, we finished the night with some atmospheric portraits outside. There’s something so romantic about night portraits, especially at a beautiful venue like Dunstall Barns. It was the perfect, slightly dramatic end to a day that had it all: love, laughter, perfect light, and some seriously fun dance moves.

Libby and Christopher, thank you for letting me be a part of your amazing day. If you’re planning a wedding and want a Nottingham wedding photographer who’ll brave any weather (and maybe even bust a move or two on the dance floor), let’s chat! Whether it’s capturing those laugh-out-loud moments or the tender, timeless ones, I’ll be there, camera in hand and ready to make sure your memories are every bit as perfect as your big day.
