Barlaston Golf Club Staffordshire Wedding Photographer
Kate & Darren's Big Day at Newcastle Under Lyme Registry Office & Barlaston Golf Club
When it comes to memorable wedding venues in Staffordshire, Kate and Darren chose one that had a lot of personal meaning to them. Their simple ceremony took place at Newcastle Under Lyme Registry Office, followed by a reception at Barlaston Golf Club—a venue with a heartwarming connection to Kate's family. As a Staffordshire wedding photographer, this was one of those weddings where I felt truly honoured to be behind the lens (and let’s be honest, a little sweaty too—more on that later!).
Barlaston Golf Club wasn’t just any venue for Kate. It held a special place in her heart, as her late father had spent a lot of time there. In his memory, the family even raised money to renovate a room at the club. And yes, of course, we made sure to capture plenty of photos in that room— luckily the brief game of pool didn’t get too competitive and the rest of the wedding day was able to continue without a hitch!
Now, about that weather - Staffordshire decided to turn up the heat. It was one of those days where the sun was basically a VIP guest, and the guests themselves were grateful for any shade they could find. But hey, who’s complaining when you’ve got perfect sunshine, stunning views, and a cool drink in hand?
The guests mingled outside, soaking up the rays, while I played my favourite wedding game: ‘Find the Shade Before You Melt.’ Candid moments were everywhere, from kids running and playing outside to many guests showing off some surprisingly impressive dance moves later on. The trick for me, as a Staffordshire wedding photographer, was capturing all these fun, spontaneous moments without anyone realising they were being snapped. I pride myself on being a photo-ninja—silent, stealthy, and only slightly sun-burned...
Kate and Darren’s wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and friends, with plenty of laughter to go around. Whether it was Kate’s infectious smile, Darren’s jokes, or the heartfelt speeches, there was no shortage of emotion to capture.
One of my favorite shots of the day has to be when the newlyweds took a stroll across the golf course. The rolling greens, the golden hour lighting, and the sheer joy on their faces—it’s the kind of scene every wedding photographer in Staffordshire dreams of. Trust me, if there were ever a photo that screamed “we’re totally in love,” this was it.
At the end of the day, what makes weddings like this so special isn’t just the venue (though Barlaston Golf Club certainly helped with its charm) or the perfect weather. It’s the little moments—the laughter, the tears, the quirky dance moves—that make it unforgettable.
Kate and Darren’s day had it all, and I was so privileged to be there capturing it all as their Staffordshire wedding photographer. If you’re looking for someone to photograph your big day with a focus on natural, candid moments (and someone who’s prepared for any kind of Staffordshire weather), get in touch! Let’s create some memories—hopefully with fewer sunburns next time!
