St Mary’s Hub Lichfield Staffordshire Wedding Photographer

What better way to kick off a new year than with a wedding on 3rd January? I think this might be my earliest start to my wedding photography season ever and with my current last booking of the year being on 28th December, it sure is going to be a packed one! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

So while most people were still recovering from their festive food comas, I grabbed my cameras, stuffed the last mince pie into my gob, wrapped up warm, and headed out for my first wedding of the year — the beautiful wedding of Brigid and Joseph in Lichfield, Staffordshire. And this one had a little twist—not one, but two churches were involved!

The day started in a traditional church setting, where Brigid and Joseph said their “I dos” surrounded by their nearest and dearest. The ceremony was full of love, a few happy tears, and—like all good weddings—a moment of slight panic as someone patted their pockets to check if they actually had the rings (they did, don’t worry).

After the official bit, we had a brief walk into the centre of Lichfield to St Mary’s Hub, a stunning converted church right in the middle of Lichfield. It’s a wedding venue with a difference, tucked away above the library! History meets modern style, right in the heart of Lichfield. As far as Staffordshire wedding venues go, it’s got charm, character, and, most importantly, heating (a serious perk in January).

As any UK wedding photographer or indeed, any UK wedding guest will tell you - you can't put your faith in the weather. A January wedding in the UK is always a bit of a gamble, and while we didn’t get a full-on winter wonderland, we did get crisp air, soft light, and guests who quickly mastered the art of posing for photos before dashing back inside for warmth! Brigid and Joseph were absolute troopers, embracing the wintery vibes with big smiles (and possibly the occasional strategic shiver).

Once inside St Mary’s Hub, things really got going, starting with some fantastic bagpipe playing by the best man. This venue is an incredible space—stunning architecture, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and plenty of room for a good old-fashioned knees-up. The speeches had the perfect mix of laughter and nostalgia, with just enough gentle roasting of the groom to keep things entertaining.

Brigid and Joseph’s wedding was the perfect way to kick off my year as a Staffordshire wedding photographer. A stunning couple, two fantastic venues, and a whole lot of joy—it doesn’t get much better than that. If you’re planning a wedding in Lichfield or anywhere in Staffordshire, I’d love to be there to capture the magic (and, of course, the dance floor chaos).

Looking for a Staffordshire wedding photographer? Get in touch—I promise to capture every moment, from the “I do” to the dodgy dad dancing.
